Saudi picture editing — Avid + Premiere + Resolve cutting across MBC, Telfaz11, Manga Productions
Here is how this works in practice. Our Saudi picture editors cut on each major NLE. Avid Media Composer is the MBC Studios Riyadh and Jeddah broadcast standard. Adobe Premiere Pro powers the Telfaz11 Studios digital-native pipeline behind Sattar (2022 Saudi box-office record). DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro round out the offering.
Format coverage is broad. We cut feature, episodic, commercial, anime, and social content. The anime work comes through Manga Productions Riyadh — a Saudi-Japan Toei Animation JV behind Future Folktales and Saud Rises.
Recent global cuts show the range. Kandahar (Gerard Butler 2023, AlUla and NEOM, $43M, dir. Ric Roman Waugh), Desert Warrior (Anthony Mackie 2024, AlUla, dir. Rupert Wyatt), and Cherry (Apple TV+ partial AlUla) all handled offline assembly across two hubs. Some of the work happened in-country. Some in Dubai via Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Filmworks Dubai partners.
Here is the short of it. Saudi-resident directors brief through trained editors. Directors have Haifaa al-Mansour (The Perfect Candidate), Mahmoud Sabbagh, Ali Kalthami, and Shahad Ameen. Editors train at Effat University Jeddah (the first Saudi women's film school program), King Saud University Riyadh, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. Global alumni return post-2018 from NYU, USC, AFI, UCLA, Falmouth, and NFTS UK.
Domestic delivery has its own cuts. Outlets have MBC Group OSN region, Shahid VOD, and Saudi Broadcasting Corporation broadcast. GCAM type (G, PG, PG12, PG15, R15, R18) often demands distinct cuts versus global Netflix, Apple TV+, or Amazon masters.
Suite workflows are today's. We set up Avid bin sharing, Frame.io review, Resolve cloud workflows, and NAS storage build style. IMF and DCP package preparation runs through MBC and NEOM Bajdah Studios post facilities.
Here is the breakdown. Compliance covers many bases. GCAM content review and the Ministry of Culture period authority for heritage projects both apply. GOSI payroll sign-ups, 15% VAT, and Saudization Nitaqat quotas all matter. Nitaqat hires drive the 5% rebates uplift on the Cultural Development Fund's 40% cash rebates.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. Suite scheduling factors are Saudi-specific. The workweek is Sunday-Thursday. During Ramadan, all-night 9pm-2am suhoor cutting windows shift the schedule. SFDA-certified halal craft catering and the five daily prayer pauses also apply. The SAR is pegged 3.75:1 to USD, with zero personal income tax — that is competitive for senior editor relocations. There is no domestic film editor union — global ACE and Motion Picture Editors Guild work routes reciprocally via Dubai EPS bureaus (Entertainment Partners ME).

What delivery formats do your editors support?

How do you match an editor to my production?
Here is how the picture comes together. We review your project's genre, format, pacing style, and post-prod timeline, then recommend editors whose portfolios and working style align with your needs. We also consider their familiarity with your preferred editing platform and workflow needs.
At what stage should an editor get involved?
Here is what we have to work with. Editors are most effective when brought in during or shortly after principal photography, so they can start assembling sequences while the shoot is still underway. On larger shoots, having an editor cutting alongside filming allows the director to review assemblies and make informed decisions about coverage before wrap.
