Colorist Services

Saudi Arabia's post-prod sector is growing fast. It backs the Kingdom's Vision 2030 push into film and entertainment.

A colorist shapes the final look of a production. They do this through precise grading and correction. Saudi Arabia's visual landscape is striking. It runs from the old sandstone canyons of AlUla to the future-styled build of Riyadh and the Red Sea coast. The Kingdom's young film industry is growing fast under Vision 2030. Colorists must handle the harsh desert light that marks much of the footage shot across the country.

NeedAFixer connects you with skilled colorists across Saudi Arabia's post-prod facilities. Nebras Films is the most advanced facility in the Gulf region. AFLAM Productions, Hoku Film Production, and MSKH Studio round out the network. They offer CGI, VFX, grading, and full post-prod skills with DaVinci Resolve suites. The low cost of living helps keep production costs low.

Saudi DI grading from AlUla desert palette to NEOM neon — Resolve + Baselight finishing pipelines

Our Saudi colorists run DaVinci Resolve Studio and FilmLight Baselight grading suites. They work across MBC Studios Riyadh and Jeddah post facilities. They also use NEOM Bajdah Studios' on-site DI room. Telfaz11 Studios brings a digital-native colour pipeline behind Sattar (2022 Saudi box-office record, dir. Ali Kalthami). Manga Productions Riyadh handles anime grading on Future Folktales and Saud Rises with Toei Animation partnership review. Recent global shoots show the range. Kandahar (Gerard Butler 2023, dir. Ric Roman Waugh, AlUla + NEOM, $43M, DP MacGregor IAC) and Desert Warrior (Anthony Mackie 2024, AlUla, dir. Rupert Wyatt) finished partly in Saudi and partly in Dubai (Filmworks, Image Nation Abu Dhabi). Our colorists handle ACES workflows and Dolby Vision HDR / HDR10+ mastering. They cut Rec. 709 SDR domestic broadcast deliverables for MBC and Saudi Broadcasting Corporation. They also prep YouTube / Snapchat / TikTok rec. 709 SDR for the Saudi influencer landscape. The desert palette work needs distinct LUT libraries. AlUla red sandstone, Empty Quarter / Rub' al Khali ochre dunes, and the Edge of the World (Jebel Fihrayn) cliff face all differ. They contrast with Riyadh CBD's Kingdom Centre Tower, Al Faisaliah, and KAFD glass-and-steel cool tones.

Compliance routes through GCAM (General Commission for Audiovisual Media) for type (G/PG/PG12/PG15/R15/R18) review. Colorists adjust deliverables to meet domestic broadcast standards. These differ from global Netflix / Apple TV+ / Amazon masters. We set up IMF package preparation, HDR10+ static metadata, and Dolby Vision dynamic metadata. We run NAS storage that meets the relevant data residency rules. We also enable remote review via Streambox / Resolve cloud for global DPs and directors. Saudi-resident DPs Wael Abu Mansour and Ahmad Salman work the local scene. Fly-in talent Polly Morgan ASC BSC (Desert Warrior) and MacGregor IAC (Kandahar) join them. They all need precise on-set look LUTs delivered via DIT to set monitors. Local economics shape Saudi post facilities. They include the Sunday-Thursday workweek, GOSI payroll sign-ups, and 15% VAT. They also cover SFDA halal craft catering on all-night DI sessions. These run during Ramadan 9pm-2am suhoor windows. Zero personal income tax keeps Saudi highly competitive for senior colourist relocations.
