Real-time Unreal Engine pipelines at NEOM XR Lab + Pixomondo Riyadh
Two flagship sites anchor Saudi virtual production. NEOM XR Lab runs full Unreal Engine 5 real-time pipelines. It pairs an LED Volume with a motion capture stage. The Lab serves NEOM-internal media — Sindalah resort marketing, The Line construction visualization, Trojena ski resort branding, and Oxagon industrial city content — plus external Saudi shoots. Pixomondo Riyadh runs an ICVFX LED Volume. It meets the global Mandalorian / Star Trek Discovery / House of the Dragon pipeline standard. Pixomondo's leaders came from those credits and brought the workflow to Riyadh. Manga Productions is a Saudi-Japan anime JV with Toei Animation. It runs a Japan-trained real-time anime-live-action hybrid pipeline. Big Time Studios Riyadh keeps smaller virtual production stage space. NEOM Bajdah Studios is the 9,000m² 4-stage sound complex, the largest in MENA. It supports extra virtual production builds.
The workflow runs at the global top tier. It uses Unreal Engine 5 with nDisplay for multi-cluster Brompton SX40 / Megapixel HELIOS LED processor playback. ROE Visual Black Pearl BP2v2 or Carbon CB5 LED panels run at 2.6mm or 1.9mm pitch. The on-stage cinema camera is an ARRI Alexa 35 + Mini LF or RED V-Raptor 8K VV. Motion-tracking comes from stYpe RedSpy / Mo-Sys StarTracker / Vicon. We pre-vis worlds for AlUla / Empty Quarter / Red Sea / NEOM coast. So a shoot can film the AlUla red-rock plate at sunset. The next day it captures talent inside the volume with matching light. ICVFX supervisors fly in from London/LA on the 90-minute DXB→RUH connection. They work with Saudi-resident Unreal Engine ops trained through the Pixomondo + NEOM XR Lab programs. Cultural Development Fund rebates run at 35% plus a 5% Saudization uplift. These cover virtual-production stage day-rates plus real-time crew when routed through Saudi-registered sites. General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM) licenses content for broadcast and commercial release.
