SCENE 01 / GREEN SCREEN
Green Screen Services in Saudi Arabia
Professional chroma key filming for VFX and compositing across Saudi Arabia.
Green screen filming uses chroma key backdrops. They isolate subjects for compositing in post-prod. You can drop in virtual backgrounds, places, or visual effects. This trick sits at the heart of modern film. Saudi Arabia is building fast. It has 17 working studios and 40% cash rebates. NEOM alone has hosted 40+ shoots. The Kingdom now ranks among the most ambitious chroma key setups in the Middle East.
We set up green screen stages across the Kingdom. These include NEOM Studios in Bajdah (growing to 25+ stages), Jax Film Studios in Riyadh (7,000m² plus Sony virtual production), PlayMaker Studios in Qiddiya (50 acres), and Film AlUla. The country has 100,000m² of total studio space across 17 sites. Our team sources cyclorama stages and portable backdrops. We bring the special lighting that clean chroma key work needs. Then we hand off straight to Nebras Films (Gulf's most advanced), AFLAM Productions, NEEDaFIXER Riyadh, Hoku Film Production, and MSKH Studio for CGI, VFX, and grading.

Chroma stages at NEOM Bajdah, JAX District, MBC Studios — VFX pipeline ready
Saudi green-screen capacity scaled fast after 2018. It now backs home-grown features and global fly-in shoots. Local work spans Telfaz11's Sattar, Manga Productions anime-live-action hybrids, and Saudi auteur films from Haifaa al-Mansour and Mahmoud Sabbagh. NEOM Bajdah Studios is the largest sound stage complex in MENA, with 4 stages totalling 9,000m². It holds fixed green-screen cycs. The largest stage wraps floor-to-ceiling-to-floor for full-body actor coverage. It runs truss-mounted Astera Hyperion infinity-curve lighting and 24K HMI top-light banks. JAX District is the arts hub next to UNESCO Diriyah Al-Turaif. It and MBC Studios Riyadh + Jeddah run mid-sized chroma stages for episodic and commercial work. Big Time Studios Riyadh, Telfaz11's facility, and Pixomondo Riyadh (led by Mandalorian/Star Trek Discovery alumni) all keep chroma-ready rooms. These tie straight into in-house VFX/ICVFX pipelines.
Our method covers full VFX-supervisor handoff. We capture witness cameras for clean plates. We shoot HDRIs via Theta Z1 + 360 light-probe panoramas. We place tracking markers on green for the post solve. We grab reference photography for set extension. We deliver ACES-spec EXR-DPX dailies for matched VFX work. Lighting design holds spill in check. We use Quasar Crossfade and Astera Tube edge-light arrays. Backstops use green-spec polyester pulled drum-tight on cyc cycloramas. Cinema cameras span ARRI Alexa 35 / Mini LF, RED V-Raptor 8K VV, and Sony Venice 2. These match the primary photography Saudi shoots use. Our Saudi-resident chroma-key crew came up through MBC commercial work and the Manga Productions anime-pipeline. Their engineers trained in Japan and run real-time pre-vis. Cultural Development Fund rebates cover green-screen day-rates at the 35% base plus a 5% Saudization uplift. General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM) handles content licensing for broadcast or commercial delivery.
FAQ
Chroma Key Expertise
Do you provide green screen studios?
Yes. We partner with NEOM Studios (25+ stages, growing), Jax Film Studios in Riyadh (7,000m² plus Sony virtual production), PlayMaker Studios (50 acres in Qiddiya), and Film AlUla. Saudi Arabia has 17 working studios. Together they total 100,000m².
Can you set up green screens on location?
Yes. We give portable green screen kits. These include pop-up backgrounds, fabric screens, and mobile lighting packages. We can build chroma key setups in almost any Saudi location. All we need is the right space, power, and permits.
What about blue screen vs green screen?
We use both green and blue screens. The choice rests on your needs. Blue screen often wins for blonde hair or scenes with green elements. We advise you based on your shot and VFX pipeline.
How do you ensure clean keys?
Clean keys need even lighting on the background. They need good talent separation, spill control, and sharp edges. Our Saudi teams know all of this. They set up to make compositing work at local VFX facilities.
Do you coordinate with VFX supervisors?
Yes. We work hand in hand with your VFX team. That team can be in-house or at Saudi facilities like Nebras Films, AFLAM Productions, NEEDaFIXER Riyadh, or MSKH Studio. We capture tracking markers, reference photography, HDRIs, and clean plates.
What resolution and formats do you support?
We shoot green screen in formats up to 8K. The exact format rests on the camera you pick. We make sure footage meets the resolution and codec needs of your post-prod pipeline. The 40% cash rebates back qualifying shoots.
