SCENE 01 / GIMBAL FILMING

Gimbal Filming Services in Saudi Arabia

Smooth, stabilized camera movement for dynamic cinematography across Saudi Arabia.

Scroll

Gimbal filming uses electronic camera platforms to smooth out motion. The footage stays fluid and shake-free as you follow action. We run light handheld units for small mirrorless cameras. We also run heavy-lift rigs that hold full cinema packages. Both unlock bold shots across Saudi Arabia. We shoot from Riyadh's Boulevard district and historic Diriyah to AlUla's Hegra ruins, the Red Sea coast and NEOM's bold landscapes.

We give gimbal systems and skilled operators across Saudi Arabia. We set up gear out of Jax Film Studios in Riyadh (7,000m² plus Sony virtual production), NEOM Studios in Bajdah, PlayMaker Studios in Qiddiya and Film AlUla. Our team matches gear and crew to your shoot. That might be a Ronin 2 for a Riyadh walk-and-talk. Or it might be a heavy-lift MoVI for a feature claiming the 40% Saudi Film Incentive.

Movi Pro + Ronin 4D ops — AlUla narrative, Diriyah heritage, JAX District

Gimbal work in Saudi Arabia sits in three lanes. The first is narrative feature handheld coverage. This covers Telfaz11's Sattar (2022 box-office record) and Saudi auteur work from Haifaa al-Mansour, Mahmoud Sabbagh, Ali Kalthami and Shahad Ameen. The second is heritage walking-tour documentary work across UNESCO sites. These include AlUla Hegra Nabataean tombs, Diriyah Al-Turaif mud-brick passages and Historic Jeddah Al-Balad coral-stone alleys. The third is commercial-spec brand work. This runs across MBC Studios, Manga Productions, Big Time Studios and JAX District (the arts hub next to Diriyah). Operators run Movi Pro, Ronin 4D 8K (with built-in Z-axis stabilization), DJI RS3 Pro / RS4 Pro, Movi Pro Live and Steadicam Volt-hybrid combos for car-handoff sequences. Saudi-resident gimbal operators came up through MBC Studios commercial and drama production, Telfaz11 narrative work and the Red Sea International Film Festival labs.

On-site logistics on Saudi locations matter. Diriyah Al-Turaif (UNESCO 2010) walking shots run through mud-brick passages. They need careful floor-level work that won't harm 18th-century surfaces. The Royal Commission watches over this. AlUla Hegra tombs are off-limits-access with RCU-supervised entry. The gimbal op mostly gets a 2-3 hour permit window per tomb chamber. Historic Jeddah Al-Balad alleys are 3-4m wide between coral-stone walls. Ronin 4D's built-in monitor skips the extra brackets that snag rawasheen carved wooden screens. NEOM Bajdah Studios is the largest MENA sound stage complex (4 stages, 9,000m², where Sindalah and pre-The-Line pre-vis happens). It supports full gimbal pre-rig with grip-truck integration. Heat protocol matters too: gimbal motors thermal-shutdown above 45°C. So we limit June-September outdoor gimbal to dawn/dusk windows. Or we shift to interior NEOM Bajdah and Riyadh studio work. Cultural Development Fund rebates cover gimbal operator day-rates at the 35% + 5% Saudization tier.

FAQ

Stabilized Cinematography Expertise

What gimbal systems do you provide in Saudi Arabia?

We run all major gimbal platforms. These include DJI Ronin 2, RS3 Pro, RS4 Pro, Freefly MoVI Pro and MoVI Carbon. We run them out of Riyadh, AlUla and NEOM bases. The right system depends on your camera weight, lens needs and shot type.

Can you support heavy cinema cameras in desert conditions?

Yes. Our heavy-lift gimbals support ARRI Alexa Mini LF, RED V-Raptor, Sony Venice 2 and similar cinema cameras. We use these on shoots at Jax Film Studios (with Sony virtual production) and Film AlUla. We make sure of proper balancing, dust sealing and power for long desert shoots.

Do you provide operators or just equipment?

We give skilled gimbal operators as standard. We draw them from the Saudi and Middle Eastern talent pool. Our operators know the tech systems. They also know the camera needs for smooth, planned movement.

What shots work best with gimbals?

Gimbals shine at walk-and-talk sequences, tracking through spaces, following action, reveal shots, and long moving takes. They give smooth motion. They also keep a mobility that dolly or Steadicam setups cannot match.

How do gimbals compare to Steadicam?

Gimbals are lighter, faster to set up, and more mobile than Steadicam. But Steadicam gives a different look. It can also handle heavier cameras. We can advise on the best fit for your shots.

Can you integrate wireless follow focus?

Yes. We fit wireless follow focus systems to gimbal setups. A focus puller can then control the lens from afar. The operator keeps full focus on movement. We also support wireless video tracking.

Productions in Saudi Arabia that need this often pair it with 360° Video Production, Virtual Production, and Thermal Imaging for full coverage. Most projects also draw on LED Lighting Systems and Director of Photography Services.
