Our Saudi DP roster blends two pools. Locally-resident cinematographers come up through Telfaz11, MBC Studios Riyadh, and the Red Sea Global Film Festival labs. Global DPs fly in via the 90-minute DXB to RUH corridor.

Here is how this works in practice. Saudi-resident DPs like Wael Abu Mansour and Ahmad Salman know the AlUla micro-climate intimately. Hot desert days bake gear past its 40°C rating by 11am. Clear nights then drop to 5-10°C, opening windows for astrophotography and dunes-and-stars time-lapse.

Here is the short of it. We match DPs to brief and terrain. For handheld AlUla heritage docs (Hegra Nabataean tombs, AlUla Old Town coral-stone walls), we bring an ARRI Alexa 35 owner-operator. For Riyadh CBD commercials, we bring a Sony Venice 2 DP with Kingdom Centre rooftop experience. For Saudi feature work like Sattar or Barakah Meets Barakah follow-ons, we bring a Telfaz11-trained narrative DP fluent in Arabic on-set direction.

Here is the breakdown. Working through us means the DP arrives with the production stack already aligned. We pre-clear Saudi Film Commission permits. We set up Royal Commission for AlUla approvals for any brief that touches Hegra, Maraya, or AlUla Old Town. RCU operates a separate jurisdiction with its own location fees and indigenous-fauna rules.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. For NEOM zones (Sindalah, The Line, Trojena), we liaise with the NEOM authority. We also route the 40% Cultural Development Fund rebates forms (35% base plus a 5% Saudi content and talent uplift). DP day-rates qualify when the production hits the Saudization Nitaqat thresholds.

Here is how the picture comes as one. We brief incoming global DPs on Saudi-specific factors. The muezzin call-to-prayer fires five times daily — Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. Knowing that timing prevents wasted dialogue setups. Mecca and Medina aerial exclusion zones matter if the shot list ever drifts that way.
