SCENE 01 / PORTABLE POWER SOLUTIONS

Portable Power Solutions in Saudi Arabia

Professional power solutions for film production anywhere in Saudi Arabia.

Scroll

Portable energy solutions keep shoots running where there is no reliable mains supply. In Saudi Arabia, many shoots take place in vast desert, remote AlUla canyons, and sites far from city grid lines. Here the packs and battery systems must stand up to extreme heat.

We source portable generators to match your load needs and Saudi Arabia's harsh conditions. You might film in AlUla's sandstone canyons, along the Red Sea coast, or in the Empty Quarter. Our team reviews heat, runtime needs, and transport. Then we suggest the right package.

On Location

Silent battery packs and gensets for AlUla heritage, Empty Quarter, NEOM remote

Saudi electrical supply on location splits cleanly into two playbooks. The first covers heritage and protected sites. These include Diriyah Al-Turaif (UNESCO 2010), Historic Jeddah Al-Balad (UNESCO 2014), AlUla Old Town under Royal Commission for AlUla jurisdiction, and Hegra Nabataean tombs. Here we limit combustion-engine genset placement near stone surfaces and inside permit perimeters.

For these sites we deploy silent lithium banks. These are the Goal Zero Yeti 6000X, EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra, and Bluetti AC500 + B300S. We add larger HEPA-grade Honda EU22i/EU70iS hybrid units only where permits allow.

Remote shoots are the second playbook. These run at the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali — largest sand desert worldwide, no grid), AlUla outer wadi locations, and Empty-Quarter-route Dakar Rally Saudi shoots. They run on diesel-spec super-silent gensets in the 20-100kVA range with desert-prep fuel filtration. NEOM remote zones cover Trojena mountain construction, The Line construction corridor, and Oxagon coastal industrial. These often run on NEOM-internal grid extensions or dedicated mobile substations we set up through NEOM authority.

Distribution and crew workflow run to global film-electrical standards. Our genny ops handle ARRI/Aputure-spec power factor and 18kW load-balancing on tungsten or HMI departure work. CEE Form / IEC 60309 connectors map to the UK/EU film standard for global touring. 110V/220V dual-voltage rigs cover US shoot teams flying in via Emirates DXB→RUH.

Generator placement at AlUla and NEOM gets pre-cleared with RCU and NEOM authority. These are separate jurisdictions from the mainland Saudi Film Commission. Fuel handling must meet Saudi Customs (ZATCA) rules for fuel-on-car transport between regions. Saudization Nitaqat hiring quotas shape genny-operator day-rate status for the Cultural Development Fund 5% local-content rebates uplift.

Climate is the last factor. Gensets derate above 45°C ambient, which is the June-September Saudi summer window. We oversize capacity by 25-30% for summer shoots, or we schedule into the October-April cool window.

FAQ

Professional Power Services

How do I calculate power requirements for my production?

We work energy needs out from your gear lists. Lighting draws the most. We help you add up total wattage and plan for startup surges. Then we suggest the right genset capacity with safety margins. Small shoots tend to need 20-40kVA. Larger shoots may need 100kVA+.

What's the difference between film generators and standard generators?

Film gensets (also called whisper gensets) are built to run quiet. They sit at 60-70dB at distance, against 80-90dB for standard units. That gap is key when you record sound. They also give cleaner, steadier output for sensitive gear.

Can you provide power for remote locations without road access?

Yes. We give helicopter-transportable gensets, portable battery systems, and solar setups for remote sites. Off-grid supply takes planning ahead. That way we make sure you have enough capacity for your shoot.

Do generators come with operators?

Power pack operators are on hand, and we advise them for larger shoots. They handle startup, tracking, refueling, load management, and fault fixing. For smaller power packs, trained crew can run them with a proper briefing.

What battery options are available for silent shooting?

We give high-capacity lithium battery systems for fully silent power. These range from portable packs for small setups to large battery arrays for full lighting packages. Battery systems suit interview setups and sensitive location work. They also suit any scene that needs zero power pack noise.

How is power distribution handled on set?

We give distribution boxes, proper cable runs, and connection hardware. We manage the distribution to balance loads and protect circuits. This makes sure power reaches all departments safely. Our electrical team or power pack operator watches distribution across the shoot.

Productions in Saudi Arabia that need this often pair it with Grip Services, LED Lighting Systems, and Gaffer & Lighting Services for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Power Distribution Systems and Wire Cam Systems.
