Underwater Filming Services

Certified dive shooting for marine, pool, and water shoots across \t\t\t\t\tSaudi Arabia, from the Red Sea to NEOM's coastal sites.

An underwater camera operator shoots footage below the water's surface. The role blends diving skill with pro camera work. They film the clean coral reefs of the Red Sea, one of the world's last great reef systems. They also film the modern coast sets of NEOM. They run waterproof housings and subsea lights. They handle the tough parts of water shoots too. These include visibility, currents, and talking to the crew. Dive shooting needs special training. It goes far beyond normal camera work.

We connect you with certified dive camera operators. They hold pro diving badges plus film work experience. Our network has crew ready for Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coral reefs. They cover the Farasan Islands marine sanctuary. They also cover modern pool sites in Riyadh and Jeddah. The team is set up to deliver cinematic subsea footage. The work stays safe and quick.

On Location

Saudi underwater camera — Gates / Aquatica housings, Red Sea coral reef visibility, NEOM coastline, Farasan Islands

Our Saudi subsea camera operators run Gates Deep Weapon (RED) and Gates Pro Action (ARRI) housings. They also run Aquatica Tech A1 (Sony VENICE) and Subspace Pictures custom housings (ALEXA Mini LF). For B-unit they add Nauticam NA-A7R5 (Sony A7R V) and Inspire2 submersible rigs.

Subject matter spans Red Sea coral reefs. These reefs are among the world's most biodiverse and heat-hardy (KAUST Red Sea Research Center, Sharma, Farasan Islands UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1989, NEOM coastline, Yanbu, Jeddah Corniche dive sites, Tabuk Sea). We also cover Yanbu wreck diving and Sindalah Island (opened Oct 2024) yacht-tourism content. We shoot the Gulf of Aqaba dive corridors too. Recent global dive-camera work has been tight. But tourism marketing drives commercial diving work (Visit Saudi, NEOM, Red Sea Global). We tether cameras for live feed where it works (Teradek SLINK subsea + topside repeater). Any wireless link needs CST (Communications, Space and Technology Commission) frequency sign-off.

Dive badges matter here. Operators need PADI Open Water + Advanced at least. We suggest Master Diver / Divemaster for the unit chief. Dive work needs Saudi Coast Guard sign-ups. Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) does not apply here. But the Red Sea Global authority covers the Red Sea Project zone. The NEOM authority covers the NEOM coastline. GACA aerial drone planning covers surface-to-subsea transitions.

Water temperature varies by site. The Red Sea coast runs 22-30°C year-round, the warmest open ocean worldwide. The Gulf of Aqaba runs 21-27°C. Sea visibility is 20-40m as a rule. Marine life is rich. You may see hammerhead sharks, manta rays, and whale sharks (seasonal — Jeddah / Farasan). You may also see dolphins and turtles (green and hawksbill), plus clean hard and soft corals. Covered reef shoots need Saudi Wildlife Authority + Red Sea Authority + Saudi Border Guard planning.

Compliance has many parts. These cover GCAM type and Saudi Civil Defense for SCUBA stunt insurance. They cover Ministry of Human Resources work permits and GOSI payroll sign-ups. They cover 15% VAT and Saudization Nitaqat quotas (5% rebates uplift on Cultural Development Fund's 40% cash rebates). They also cover Tawuniya / Bupa Arabia / Walaa Insurance dive cover, with emergency hyperbaric chamber access at KFSH Jeddah. There is no home Saudi dive-camera union. Global BSC / IATSE Local 600 subsea unit work comes through Dubai EPS bureaus.

FAQ

Professional Underwater Operations

What certifications do your underwater operators hold?

Our dive camera operators hold pro PADI, CMAS, or like badges. The badge fits the filming depth and conditions. Many also hold pro subsea shooting badges. They carry HSE or like commercial diving badges for hard shoots.

What camera systems can you use underwater?

We run underwater housings for ARRI Alexa Mini, RED Komodo/V-Raptor, Sony Venice/FX6, and Blackmagic cameras. The housing we pick depends on your camera kit, the features you need, and the depth. We also use special underwater cinema cameras.

Can you film with actors underwater?

Yes. We bring trained water safety leads. We also coach actors for underwater work. Non-diving actors can be filmed in safe shallow water with safety divers. Hard underwater stunts need special planning and safety planning.

What locations in Saudi Arabia are suitable for underwater filming?

Saudi Arabia gives you many underwater filming spots. The Red Sea has clear water and marine life. The Atlantic coast brings bold conditions. Lakes and rivers offer fresh water. Many studio tanks and pools suit set shoots.

How do you handle underwater lighting?

We use special underwater LED and HMI lights in waterproof housings. For pool and tank work, above-water lights can reach down well. Deep or murky water needs its own underwater light kits. We plan these in pre-production.

What are the safety requirements for underwater filming?

All underwater work needs risk checks and dive plans. It also needs certified safety divers, surface support, and emergency steps. We follow Saudi diving rules and film safety standards. Hard scenes may need a hyperbaric chamber on standby.
