We also have DPs on Cherry (Apple TV+ partial AlUla), Hellraiser plates (AlUla 2022), and Born a King (2019). Our DPs shoot ARRI ALEXA 35, ALEXA Mini LF, and ALEXA 65 (for AlUla large-format desert work). They also use RED V-RAPTOR XL / Komodo-X and Sony VENICE 2. Lens choices span Cooke S7/i, ARRI Signature Primes, Zeiss Supreme Primes, and Panavision Ultra Vista. We add anamorphic Hawk and Atlas Orion too. Studios run deep here. NEOM Bajdah holds 9,000 m² across four sound stages, the largest in MENA. We also draw on MBC Studios Riyadh and Jeddah. Telfaz11 Studios made Sattar (2022 Saudi box-office record dir. Ali Kalthami). Manga Productions Riyadh is a Saudi-Japan Toei Animation JV. Pixomondo Riyadh runs an LED Volume. NEOM XR Lab handles Unreal Engine 5 virtual production. Saudi-resident directors brief from heritage and modern palette references. These include Haifaa al-Mansour (The Perfect Candidate, Mary Shelley), Mahmoud Sabbagh, Ali Kalthami, and Shahad Ameen.
Location work spans the whole Kingdom. AlUla / Hegra (UNESCO 2008) offers Nabataean red-sandstone tomb interiors, the Royal Tombs at Qasr al-Farid, the Hijaz Railway, and Elephant Rock. Diriyah Al-Turaif (UNESCO 2010) shows mud-brick Najdi Salmani style. Jeddah Al-Balad (UNESCO 2014) brings Hejazi coral-stone Rawasheen. The Edge of the World gives the Jebel Fihrayn cliff-face. The Empty Quarter / Rub' al Khali holds vast dune fields. The Red Sea coast covers the Farasan Islands, Sharma, and the NEOM coastline. There is also the Asir Mountains + Abha highlands. Riyadh CBD has the Kingdom Centre Tower, Al Faisaliah, KAFD, and Boulevard. We also shoot the Jeddah Corniche and NEOM (Sindalah opened Oct 2024, The Line, Trojena, Oxagon). Climate shapes the shoot calendar. October-April is the ideal window at 15-30°C. June-September runs 45-50°C and extreme. That means heat-stable bodies, AC tents, and frequent battery rotation. AlUla has cool desert nights of 5-10°C in winter. The Red Sea coast runs 70-90% humid in summer. Spring needs sandstorm protocols. Compliance is wide. It covers the Saudi Film Commission, the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), and the NEOM authority. You also need GCAM type, GACA aerial, and CST wireless frequencies. Stunts need Saudi Civil Defense, plus GOSI sign-ups. The 15% VAT is recoverable. Saudization Nitaqat quotas add a 5% rebates uplift on CDF 40% cash rebates. There is no home Saudi DP union. Global ASC / BSC / IATSE Local 600 / ACO crew work via Dubai EPS bureaus.

Standard DP day rates in Saudi Arabia cover on-set cinematography during shoot hours. Pre-production work is mostly billed apart. This covers tech scouts, shot listing, and meetings. Gear, camera assistants, and late hours cost extra based on project scope.
