Climate dictates schedule. October-April is the ideal shoot window at 15-30°C. June-September brings 45-50°C extreme heat — heat-stable bodies, AC tents, and frequent battery rotation are all needed. AlUla winter nights drop to 5-10°C. The Red Sea coast hits 70-90% humid summer. Spring sandstorms demand grounding protocols.
Here is the breakdown. Compliance covers many bases. Permits route through the Saudi Film Commission, the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), the NEOM authority, GCAM type, GACA aerial, CST wireless frequencies, and Saudi Civil Defense for stunts. GOSI sign-ups, 15% VAT recoverable, and Saudization Nitaqat quotas (with a 5% rebates uplift on the CDF 40% cash rebates) also apply. There is no domestic Saudi DP union — global ASC, BSC, IATSE Local 600, and ACO work routes via Dubai EPS bureaus.
