SCENE 01 / TIMELAPSE HYPERLAPSE

Time-lapse & Hyperlapse in Saudi Arabia

Creative time manipulation for stunning visual sequences across Saudi Arabia.

Scroll

Timelapse and hyperlapse photography squeeze long stretches of time into short sequences. They reveal change, movement, and mood. We film mega-construction rising across Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District. We also film desert star trails over AlUla's old sandstone. These methods turn hours of Saudi Arabia's fast growth and timeless land into striking footage. The results add depth and context to any production.

We set up timelapse and hyperlapse shoots across Saudi Arabia. Our gear is purpose-built and our operators are skilled. They know exposure ramping, motion control, and long-shoot logistics. We capture Jeddah's Corniche waterfront and sunset over the Empty Quarter. Our team handles gear placement, power, and security. You receive polished time-compressed footage ready to edit.

Long-exposure star trails over AlUla, hyperlapse across Riyadh CBD construction

Saudi Arabia is one of the best time-lapse places on Earth. It has two micro-climates and one fast-build economy. AlUla nights are cool and clear (5-10°C winter, dry through October-April). They deliver top-tier astrophotography time-lapse. Milky Way arc rotations sweep over Hegra Nabataean tombs and Elephant Rock. These shots are now signature Saudi Tourism Authority Visit Saudi visuals. The Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali — the largest sand desert worldwide) suits dune-pan time-lapse. There the wind reshapes ridgelines you can see within 6-12 hour intervals. The Asir Mountains and Abha highlands sit at 2,500m+ elevation. They give cloud-inversion time-lapse in the spring and early-summer humid window. Add NEOM's The Line construction time-lapse, a multi-year sequence already running. Add the Trojena ski resort build, the Diriyah Gate restoration, and Riyadh CBD towers at King Abdullah Financial District. We run motion-control time-lapse rigs across them: Dynamic Perception Stage Zero, Syrp Genie Mini II, and eMotimo Spectrum. We deploy them on rotating programs that last weeks.

We tune our gear and crew workflow to Saudi conditions. We deploy weatherproof housings on the Canon R5C, Sony A7R V, and Nikon Z9 for 8K source-resolution time-lapse. We use the ARRI Alexa Mini LF or RED Komodo for cinema-grade work. These let the time-lapse cut cleanly with the primary camera. Power runs on the Goal Zero Yeti 6000X or power-pack-charged deep-cycle banks for multi-day desert shoots. There is no grid at AlUla outer locations or Empty Quarter dunefields. Hyperlapse work spans Riyadh Boulevard, Jeddah Corniche plus King Fahd Fountain (world's tallest), the Kingdom Centre Tower base, and the Al-Balad UNESCO core. This work needs Saudi Film Commission permits. It also needs Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) clearance for Boulevard and Diriyah Gate locations. Our heat rule is simple: gear stays rated to 40°C. So summer June-September time-lapse runs only at elevation. The Asir at 2,500m+ stays 15-25°C. Or we shift to NEOM coast night-only programs. We pre-scout AlUla star windows around the new moon. We brief operators on RCU off-limits-zone perimeters before any pegs go in.

FAQ

Technical Excellence

How long can time-lapse captures run continuously?

We run time-lapse projects from single-day shoots to year-long installs. Long projects use weatherproof housings and steady power. Power comes from solar, mains, or battery rotation. We add large storage too. Remote tracking keeps the rig running non-stop.

What's the difference between time-lapse and hyperlapse?

Time-lapse captures a still scene over time. Think clouds moving or construction progress. Hyperlapse adds camera movement through space. The camera walks or drives while shooting frames. This makes dynamic traveling shots squeezed in time.

What resolution and frame rates do you deliver?

We capture up to 8K and deliver in any format you need, from 24fps to 60fps. A higher capture resolution lets us stabilize, crop, and zoom in post. None of this loses quality.

Can you handle day-to-night (holy grail) transitions?

Yes. Holy grail time-lapse needs special methods. These include exposure ramping, aperture changes, and ISO control. They keep the exposure smooth across big lighting shifts. We have deep experience with these tough sequences.

What equipment do you use for time-lapse production?

We use pro cameras from Sony, Canon, and Nikon in weatherproof housings. We add intervalometers and motion control systems from eMotimo, Syrp, and custom rigs. We run solar or battery power and large storage. We match the gear to project length and conditions.

How do you handle weather and security for outdoor installations?

Outdoor installs use weatherproof housings rated for local conditions. We work with property owners for secure mounting and access. Remote tracking alerts us to issues. We also book regular upkeep visits for long projects.

Productions in Saudi Arabia that need this often pair it with Steadicam & Gimbal Operators, Underwater Camera Operators, and Director of Photography Services for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Stop Motion Production and Wire Cam Systems.
