SCENE 01 / UNDERWATER CAMERA OPERATORS
Underwater Filming Services in Saudi Arabia
Certified underwater cinematography for marine, pool, and aquatic productions across Saudi Arabia.
Underwater camera operators are pro divers and skilled camera crew. They shoot footage below the surface. Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast holds some of the world's clearest coral reefs. Our operators work the NEOM coast, Jeddah's reefs, and the Farasan Islands. The result is striking tropical footage shot underwater.
We connect you with certified underwater camera pros. They know Saudi Arabia's Red Sea waters well. The Kingdom's film trade is growing under Vision 2030 and the Saudi Film Commission. So underwater skills are in high demand. We set up waterproof housing, lights, safety divers, and logistics. Your underwater scenes get shot safely.

Red Sea dive ops — Farasan, Sharma, NEOM coast, KAUST research dives
The Red Sea is one of the world's last rarely-filmed dive regions. Saudi Arabia owns 1,800km of its coast. Our underwater camera operators work clear reef systems off Farasan Islands, where whale sharks migrate December-April. They also shoot the Sharma coast at the NEOM project, with Sindalah island reefs and top fringing reefs. Add the Yanbu coral gardens and the Tabuk/Magna corridor on the Gulf of Aqaba. Many operators hold two qualifications. They are PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or commercial HSE Part IV. They also have camera-op credits on Red Sea nature work for BBC Studios, National Geographic, and Apple TV+ documentary slates. Local operators come from Red Sea Divers Jeddah, Diveritage Yanbu, and the KAUST Red Sea Research Center. That center sits at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. The marine science tie-up grants access to research dive boats. We use them for marine-biology films on coral bleaching, dugong numbers off Farasan, and reef health tracking.
We match housings and camera bodies to the brief. We bring Nauticam underwater housings for ARRI Alexa Mini LF, RED Komodo/V-Raptor, and Sony Venice 2. We add Canon R5C and Sony A7S III for small rebreather work, where bubble-noise must stay below the talent. We use Gates housings on Sony FX9 for documentary day-rate work. Hydroflex topside-housings handle cable-fed underwater comms. We set up dive-support boats from Jeddah marina and Yanbu. We work with the NEOM authority on Sharma coast permits. NEOM runs its own jurisdiction, and its site-level checks for filming around Sindalah are stricter than mainland Saudi. We file Saudi Coast Guard notices for offshore work in the Farasan archipelago. The best window is October-April. It brings 24-26°C water and 30-40m visibility. From June-September the Red Sea coast humidity hits 70-90% topside, but the water stays workable. We brief operators on KAUST coral-touch rules. We brief them on Saudi Film Commission rules for sea-mammal distance, since dugongs and whale sharks have keep-clear zones. We also brief them on Cultural Development Fund rebates for marine-shoot day rates.
FAQ
Professional Underwater Operations
What certifications do your underwater operators hold?
Our underwater camera operators hold pro PADI, CMAS, or like certs. These match the filming depths and conditions. Many also hold pro dive shooting certs. For hard shoots, they have HSE or like commercial diving credits.
What camera systems can you use underwater?
We run underwater housings for ARRI Alexa Mini, RED Komodo/V-Raptor, Sony Venice/FX6, and Blackmagic cameras. The housing we pick depends on your camera kit, the features you need, and the depth. We also use special underwater cinema cameras.
Can you film with actors underwater?
Yes. We work with trained water safety leads. We also coach actors for underwater work. Non-diving actors can be filmed in calm, shallow water with safety divers. Hard underwater stunts need special planning and a safety plan.
What locations in Saudi Arabia are suitable for underwater filming?
Saudi Arabia offers many underwater filming spots. The Red Sea has clear water and sea life. The Arabian Gulf coast brings different conditions. Lakes and rivers give fresh water. We also use studio tanks and pools for calm, set shoots.
How do you handle underwater lighting?
We use special underwater LED and HMI lights in waterproof housings. For pool and tank work, above-water lights can reach down well. Deep or murky water needs its own underwater light kit. We plan that kit during pre-production.
What are the safety requirements for underwater filming?
All underwater work needs risk checks, dive plans, certified safety divers, surface support, and emergency steps. We follow Saudi diving rules and film safety standards. Hard scenes may need a hyperbaric chamber on standby.
