SCENE 01 / BOOM MICROPHONES

Boom Microphones in Saudi Arabia

Professional shotgun microphones and boom equipment for your Saudi production.

Scroll

Boom microphones capture clean dialogue and ambient sound on set. These directional mics mount on poles that extend. Operators place the mic close to talent. They keep it out of frame. The result is focused sound with little background noise.

We provide a wide range of pro boom mic systems. This covers shotgun mics, hypercardioid capsules, and light boom poles. We match each one to your shoot. Our team sets up delivery and backup gear. This keeps your sound team running well across the shoot.

Sennheiser MKH 416, Schoeps CMIT 5U, and Sanken CS-3e boom packages with Rycote and Cinela windshields tuned for AlUla canyons, NEOM stages, and Riyadh interiors.

We source Saudi boom packages from MBC Studios' Riyadh and Jeddah sound departments. The kits cover Sennheiser MKH 416 and MKH 8060 short shotguns, Schoeps CMIT 5U and MK 41 hypercardioids, Sanken CS-3e and CS-M1 narrow-pickup shotguns, and Neumann KMR 81i references. They also include matching K-Tek and Ambient Recording carbon-fibre poles. Saudi sound mixers prefer these poles for AlUla and NEOM exterior wadis, where stand-mounted booms would catch wind. Rycote Windjammer and Cinela Pianissimo wind protection comes standard on each boom kit. The Empty Quarter, the Hisma Plateau north of AlUla, and the Red Sea coast near NEOM create steady 15-25 km/h winds. These winds wreck shotgun captures with no cover. When MBC stock is booked, we cross-source through Filmquip Dubai or Sigma Cine Dubai. The gear comes via the 12-hour E11 highway or 90-minute Emirates SkyCargo flights from DXB to RUH.

Saudi sound teams on Wadjda, Barakah Meets Barakah, Sattar, and the Telfaz11 commercial pipeline all built around MKH 416 boom captures. The reason is the dialect range. The crew speaks MSA, Najdi, and Hejazi, with Pakistani Urdu and Filipino chatter bleeding from holding. That mix needs a boom that holds sibilance across many accents. Our coordinators spec climate-rated boom prep for AlUla and Empty Quarter shoots. Summer highs of 45-50°C throttle some condenser capsules. The haboob sandstorms harm diaphragms with no cover. So we run sand-protection routines on each boom return to MBC's audio bay. CST (Communications, Space and Technology Commission) does not licence wired booms. But we register each wireless boom transmitter. That covers the Lectrosonics HMa, Wisycom MTP60, and Sennheiser SK6212. They go under the production's bulk wireless filing, alongside IEM and walkie permits.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which shotgun mic do you recommend?

The Sennheiser MKH 416 is still the go-to mic. It works well and stays reliable in many settings. For quiet interiors, the Schoeps CMIT 5U gives top clarity. The Sanken CS-3e cuts off-axis noise in hard locations.

What boom pole lengths are available?

We stock boom poles from 2m to 6m in many setups. Most shoots use 3-4m poles for standard work. We suggest K-Tek and Ambient poles. Their cables run inside the pole for clean, pro use.

What wind protection do you provide?

We provide full windscreen systems from Rycote and Cinela. They suit any setting, from light indoor air to strong outdoor wind. Our kits come with the right fur covers for the conditions you will face.

Can you provide complete boom kits?

Yes. We provide full boom packages. Each one has a mic, pole, shock mount, windscreen, cables, and all the add-ons you need. We prep and test every kit before we deliver it.

Do you offer backup equipment?

Yes. We suggest and can provide backup mics and key add-ons for longer shoots. Backup gear guards your shoot against any gear faults.

What about interior vs exterior mics?

Some shoots use one mic indoors and another outdoors. But modern shotguns like the MKH 416 and CS-3e work well in both. We can advise on the best fit for your needs.

Productions in Saudi Arabia that need this often pair it with Location Sound Packages, Wireless Systems, and Wireless Microphone Systems for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Camera Equipment Rental and Boom Operators.
