SCENE 01 / CREW HIRING
Crew Hiring Services in Saudi Arabia
Professional film crew recruitment across all departments in Saudi Arabia.
Here is how this works in practice. Crew hiring involves identifying, vetting, and engaging the skilled pros needed across each department of a production. In Saudi Arabia, building the right crew needs knowledge of local talent pools connected through the Film Commission (part of the Ministry of Culture), Saudi labor rules and cultural compliance needs, rate structures, and the specific skills each position demands.
Here is the short of it. We manage crew hiring by leveraging our network of Film Commission-connected pros across Riyadh, Jeddah, and the emerging AlUla production hub across all production departments. Our team handles sourcing, availability checks, rate negotiations, and contract planning to assemble a skilled crew that meets your production's tech needs and scheduling needs.

On Location
Crew hiring in Saudi Arabia mixes a fast-maturing domestic Saudi pool (Telfaz11, Manga Productions, MBC Studios, Big Time Studios alumni) with imported MENA and international department heads, all under GOSI registration, Saudization (Nitaqat) quotas, and Ministry of Human Resources work-permit gates
Crew hiring inside the Kingdom needs juggling three pools.
Here is how this works in practice. Domestic Saudi crew has matured fast since the 2018 cinema reopening. Telfaz11 in Riyadh has produced the country's commercial-volume crew, including the Sattar (Ali Kalthami, 2022) and Sattar-era department heads. Manga Productions Riyadh has built an animation and post-prod talent base through its Saudi-Japan JV. MBC Studios (Riyadh and Jeddah) plus Big Time Studios Riyadh form the scripted-drama crew backbone.
AlUla keeps its own film-services labor pool. Planning runs through Film AlUla and the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) film registry. It is separate from the rest of the Kingdom. NEOM crews live inside the special economic zone. They are often hired through Bajdah Studios (9,000 m², four sound stages — MENA's largest stage tricky).
Here is the short of it. Imported MENA crew flows in primarily from Dubai and Cairo. Dubai routes have DP Wael Abu Mansour and the Image Nation Abu Dhabi pipeline. Key department heads still arrive from London, Los Angeles, Berlin, and Mumbai. They travel on Ministry of Foreign Affairs visas paired with Ministry of Human Resources work permits.
Here is the breakdown. Compliance gates are the upstream constraint on each crew sheet. Saudization (Nitaqat) quotas set the minimum percentage of Saudi nationals on payroll for any contracting entity. Productions chasing the Cultural Development Fund cash-rebates uplift (5% on top of the 35% base, 40% maximum) must clear the Saudi-content thresholds those quotas enforce.
GOSI (General Org for Social Insurance) sign-ups is required for crew payroll. Employer inputs run around 12%. End-of-service gratuity follows Saudi labor law.
The working week is Sunday-Thursday. Fridays carry a hard 12:00-13:30 Jummah prayer hold. Five daily prayer pauses (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) are written into call sheets.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. There is no strong unionized actor or crew structure (unlike SAG-AFTRA, BECTU, or Vidocq). GEA licensing governs performer status. We set up payroll through Telfaz11, Bedaya, and Dubai-based EPS bureaus. Insurance routes through Tawuniya, Bupa Arabia, and Walaa Insurance.
